Team Forum Explanation

hey,

i asked simon to make this forum in a previous thread ( http://gewaltig.net/Forums/Thread.aspx?pageid=1&mid=5&ItemID=1&thread=250 ), the reason was that i d like to have teams on cultris, who can battle for fun.

please read through the previous thread to get all the information ; )

now, this sub-forum is made to make teams. you ask your friends or simply other players to open a team, then you make a thread here were you put your team-information. if you want to fight another team, you post in their thread or write their team-leader a mail.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 26.02

Conditions to have a team:
- at least 3 members (you can open a team alone, but go online/ingame and search for new members)
- maximum 10 members
 )
- are you recruiting? yes/no
- what are the recruiting conditions
- some more information about the team, if there s a special idea behind it,...
- keep a list of your team-members in your team-thread

How do you fight vs other teams?
1. write an email to the team you d like to challenge, or write in their thread
2. tell them the game-mode and game conditions (how many rounds, wins are needed etc. -> standard conditions are posted beneath)
3. give them a few possible times for the fight (dont forget that not all of us live in the same timezone! so
wait for their answer, and tell them in which timezone you live -> http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc helps you converting the time)
4. each team can decide on their own which squad they bring to the fight
5. if you find a fitting time, be sure that no one forgets to get online at time!
6. after opening a server, be sure to uncheck the "auto-join-players" and "auto-start-games" options. if you need help with the server-management, check out this guide here: http://gewaltig.net/Forums/Thread.aspx?pageid=1&mid=5&ItemID=1&thread=249

What is the standard game mode?
- best of 3, up to 15 wins -> one round is up to 15 wins, if a team wins the first two rounds, the team-fight is over obviously.
- i d suggest playing 3vs3, as this gives the chance to play with different squads from time to time
- are we allowed to play a different game mode? sure, as long as we dont have a league every team can decide on its own, when its about to challenge some other team

Other questions/things:
- is there a list of all the teams? i will make one soon
- can a player be in more than one team at time? no
- is teamswitching allowed? for sure
- can you change the squads during a team-fight? no
- if you make team changes (new members etc ) please write a new post in your thread. i cant check every thread daily, and so i can see it if there s a new post at least...
- how can i protect my email address from spam, and still post it here? -> check noirs guide http://gewaltig.net/Forums/Thread.aspx?pageid=1&mid=5&ItemID=1&thread=266

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

ideas,suggestions, questions, critics, -> feel free

greetings, t0x

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

this seems like a pretty cool idea. I'm just confused by the differences between this thread and the other one (in particular, this one seems to say 5 players maximum, while the other suggests 5 players minimum)

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

@verus: good point, the problem is, that i myself havent got any team-experience by now. so suggestions are welcome.

point of the limit: c2 doesnt have so much players that we can make teams with 10+ ppl. so i rather choose more and small teams, to be able to make a league somewhen.

point of the minimum: if there s a team with 3 pros, and no more other players then it ll be pretty damn unfair to play vs this team. which leads to another problem:

- how many good players is a team allowed to have? i dont think we can limit the teams somehow, i just hope that the good players here wont stack up their teams too much. it could get pretty boring to play vs a team with jt, maserati, acidboy and polly for example.

as its impossible to find some sort of fair limitation (e.g. only two top20 players per team allowed -> mase isnt in the top20 yet :/ )i hope that the teams will get some sort of balanced, or at least not too super-pro.

so yeah, all in all i suggest that a team has to have 3-6 players. minimum 3, maximum 6. content?

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

@t0x and Versus: I think the maximum of 6 is fine for starters and we'll see what happens.

The problem with good players stacking isnt really a problem i think. If those ppl would stack no1 will challange them, so I believe this will balance itself out(hopefully)

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

Maybe not a "hard" limit, but some rules that would prevent "naturally" from forming teams of only good players : e.g. if a multiplayer match only counts if it is "balanced" (with respect to avg bpm of all ingame players for instance), then there would be no benefit from a "best players" team, that would be able to match no one.

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

I think it would be interesting to add when the different teams are most likely able to play. Especially if they are recruiting new team members in this forum. :)

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

So i have a question, why cant you change your squad mid-game? I would like to bring my entire team to a teamfight, if possible, and then everyone in my team can play at least 2-3 games each. That way i can switch with someone if my fingers hurt too much ;D And everyone gets to play, without waiting for another challenge, which might take a while.

Re: ---> Team Forum Explanation

cause it makes things wayyyy more complicated. if you change your team after each game, at the end only the best of the teams will be playing, since we all would like to win. also, it makes the team-thingy somehow not that serious anymore. would be pretty lame if you re not able to play 20 games in a row :P

and it might be frustrating for a team if you re changing the squad always.

all in all, i m against squad-changing mid-game. but i wont bitch around if i m the only one who s against it. other opinions?
